Gorleston church celebrates Christmas at theatre

Cliff Park Community Church hosted its popular annual service at Gorleston Pavilion with a choir, orchestra, testimony, and refreshments throughout

In spite of the wet weather, the Christmas service, which was organised by Cliff Park Community Church (CPCC) in Gorleston, was well attended and Gorleston Pavilion theatre was buzzing

During the service attendees were led in traditional carols by an orchestra and church choir, coordinated by John Stephens from CPCC

The service included a talk from CPCC vicar Rev Derek McClean who looked at the similarities between the shepherds who visited Jesus and the seven dwarves. Local curate Karl Ross also gave a testimony about how he came to faith. Karl spoke about how he gave his life to Jesus in August 2012 on a youth camp in Wales which he hadn’t really wanted to go to. Karl said “I didn’t want to go because my family were getting evicted on the Thursday, five days into the camp. On the Wednesday, after being miserable for the previous days, I plucked up the courage to speak to a leader about the situation and he prayed. We said ‘amen’ and went back in the tentsCPCC Pavilion 2

“The next morning I woke up and went to the only place in the field you could get a signal to call my mum to see how she was getting on, but before I could call she text me letting me know we were given an extra few weeks in the house. It was right there and then that I committed my life to following Jesus”

A collection for the Norfolk children’s bereavement charity Nelson's Journey was taken as people left, and the money added to that collected at the church’s recent quiz night, bringing the total to just under £400

Church administrator Tracy Mayne said “a massive thank you to the Pavilion Theatre staff and to all who took part in the service; both on the stage and behind the scenes, before and on the day”
