Glenda's final Christmas tree festival

Norfolk Christian Glenda Tooke has been collecting Christmas trees for 38 years. A fantastic display - Glenda's final one - will take place at Martham Methodist church in December, featuring 1700 trees

Glenda has collected thousands of trees over the years. When she was 50 in 2005, Glenda had an open house with donations for the Salvation Army and displayed about 250 trees. The display has grown over the years and Glenda organised a tree festival at different Methodist churches in the circuit - Martham, Ludham, Freethorpe, Hemsby and Potter Heigham - raising thousands of pounds for the Methodist Circuit in the Norfolk Broads area. In 2016 Glenda received the British Empire Medal for her fundraising and community work

Glenda's tree collection has now grown to 1700. She said, "This year's display will be my last and will be held in Martham Methodist Church. The trees range from one inch to eight foot high made from metal, glass and wood. We also have knitted and sewn trees, some trees will be sold, raffled, donated and put into a tombola." The proceeds are for Martham Methodist Church and the Norfolk Broads Circuit

The display will be held on December 8, 9th and 10th from 10.30am till 4pm at Martham Methodist Church with refreshments served all day including light lunches. On Sunday a carol service will conclude the weekend at 4 pm. Martham Guides, Martham Scouts and the Air Ambulance will be helping with the refreshments
