Great Yarmouth Salvation Army opens Employment Resource Centre

Monday 21st February 2011 at 9.30am

If you are looking for employment or need advice on re-training, help is on hand at The Salvation Army in Great Yarmouth
The Salvation Army Citadel in Tolhouse Street, Great Yarmouth, will be opening its doors to people who are looking for work or want to explore how they might develop their skills to ensure they are work ready
The Employment Resource Centre is part of The Salvation Army's Employment Plus UK initiative which works with unemployed people to help improve their employment prospects, create new job opportunities, help them grow in self-confidence and learn new skills and then once they have got back into work to help them so that they may become economically independent and self-sufficient
Employment Resource Centres welcome people looking for work. Each centre is manned by trained volunteers who can offer employment advice and help with basic skills like CV writing and preparing for job interviews.  Visitors can also make use of resources to look for work, including internet connections to job sites. They may also log on to The Salvation Army's Employment Plus UK e-learning site which points job seekers to education courses and other resources which may help them to become better prepared for the world of work - including literacy and numeracy courses and courses for people whose first language is not English
Come and hear about all the centre will have to offer including the chance to search online for job opportunities in a comfortable and relaxed environment, receive help and support in preparing your CV, access training courses and enhance your education and learn a host of new skills
Want to know how to shop online, access public services online, bank online, find a dentist, GP or other service, learn how to use a computer, use email, surf the internet or even assess your level of numeracy and literacy? If the answer is yes; come to the Employment Resource Centre
Lieutenants Rob and Georgina Symons, who lead The Salvation Army corps and community Great Yarmouth hope the Employment Resource Centre will be an important addition to the life of the town
The hope is that people will come to The Salvation Army to learn more about the opportunities that are available to them, perhaps to pick up new skills and for advice. Most importantly, being part of the Christian church, they will also find friendship and support at The Salvation Army
The Employment Resource Centre at The Salvation Army, Great Yamrouth, will be open from 21st February 2011 at Tolhouse Street, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2SQ
