Healing Testimony

Pat is a member of the Gorleston Baptist Church.

Being ill is not something that many of us enjoy and yet how we copat painepe at such times is important because our recovery is either helped or hindered by our attitudes.

None of us know why some people are healed and others aren’t but I would like to take this opportunity to share with you how God has healed me. I first became ill in April 2002 and was initially diagnosed with depression. Anti-depressants didn’t seem to work for me and I just kept getting more and more tired – everything was too much effort; any kind of conversation either on the telephone or face-to-face with one or more persons was hopeless because I couldn’t concentrate on what was being said and often found myself talking nonsense. It was a difficult time for me. I didn’t even have the energy to cook meals for the family and often had to get them to take over.

Family and friends found it difficult, too, because they didn’t know how to deal with me. No-one tried to understand how frustrated I felt at not being able to do everyday things that they took for granted. I felt alienated because I was often treated like a “mental health” case. It was a huge relief in April 2004 to be diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or M.E. as most people know it.

Despite all this, I knew deep down that God had a plan for my life. During those early days He showed me that He needed me to have some time out so that He could teach me to” soar like an eagle” and there was the assurance that I was His “precious jewel”. When the time was right He would bring the healing that I longed for.

In October 2006 some friends took me along to the Healing Rooms for prayer ministry and it was there that God healed me. At last I was free from the restrictive bonds of the illness. Up to that point I had needed to walk with the aid of a walking stick and from that night I no longer needed it. The friends who took me along that night said I walked out a different person from the one who walked in. Since then people have told me that they can tell by looking at my face that a change has taken place. Each day I have continued to walk in that healing and continue to build up my strength on a daily basis.
